Seasons of Ibiza

Best for: Hiking, Cycling, Culture

Spring (March–May)

Spring is Ibiza's best-kept secret. Almond trees blossom in February, wildflowers carpet the hills, and temperatures climb from 14°C to 20°C. The island is quiet, restaurants are reopening, and you'll have the beaches almost to yourself. This is peak cycling season — professional teams train here. The sea is still cool (14–18°C) but the hiking is spectacular. Accommodation is 40–60% cheaper than summer.

  • Almond blossom season (Feb–Mar)
  • International Music Summit (May)
  • Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon (April)
  • Cycling season — quiet roads, perfect temperatures
  • Restaurants reopening with new menus
Best for: Beaches, Nightlife, Yachting

Summer (June–September)

This is the Ibiza most people imagine — beach clubs pumping, world-famous DJs at Pacha, Amnesia, Ushuaïa, and Hï Ibiza, and the Mediterranean at a perfect 22–27°C. June is the sweet spot: warm enough for everything, but not yet at peak crowds. July and August are the busiest months — book everything well in advance. September offers warm seas, thinning crowds, and some of the best sunsets of the year.

  • Opening parties (late May–June)
  • Full beach club season
  • Yacht charter peak season
  • Closing parties (late September–October)
  • Sea temperature peaks at 27°C in August
Best for: Wine, Gastronomy, Wellness

Autumn (October–November)

Ibiza's autumn is a revelation. The sea stays warm (20–23°C) well into October, the light turns golden, and the island returns to its locals. This is harvest season — visit the island's boutique wineries (Ibizkus, Can Rich, Sa Cova) during vendimia. Restaurants shift to seasonal menus with local ingredients. Wellness retreats are in full swing. Accommodation drops 50–70% from peak.

  • Wine harvest at local bodegas
  • Ibiza Spirit Festival (October)
  • Sea still warm enough for swimming
  • Authentic local fiestas
  • Best restaurant season — seasonal menus
Best for: Wellness, Tranquility, Locals

Winter (December–February)

Winter Ibiza is the island at its most authentic. Temperatures rarely drop below 10°C, and sunny days are common. This is when you'll find the real Ibiza — long walks on empty beaches, wood-fired restaurants, local markets, and a tight-knit community of year-round residents. Many wellness retreats operate through winter. It's also the most affordable time to visit, with luxury villas available at a fraction of summer rates.

  • New Year's Eve celebrations
  • Three Kings parade (January 6)
  • Almond blossom begins (late February)
  • Wellness retreat season
  • Cheapest accommodation of the year

Insider Tips

Book Flights Early for Summer

Ibiza Airport (IBZ) receives direct flights from over 120 European cities. Summer flights sell out fast — book 3–6 months ahead for the best fares.

Shoulder Season is the Sweet Spot

Late May/early June and September offer the best of both worlds: warm weather, open beach clubs, but without the extreme crowds and prices of July–August.

Rent a Car for Off-Season

In spring, autumn, and winter, a car is essential to explore the island properly. Roads are quiet and the driving is beautiful.

Restaurant Reservations

In July and August, book top restaurants 1–2 weeks ahead. In shoulder season, a few days is usually enough.
